Master index
The index that opens the bundle. It shows how we named, ordered and grouped every piece of evidence for the caseworker.
We got the visa without ever living together. We're Sara and Lee, and this is the exact bundle we sent to the Home Office, with our details removed so you can add yours.
We paid over €1,000 to solicitors to tell us which documents to send and how to organise them. Most of it came down to structure.
After talking to lots of solicitors, we turned our application into templates to help couples in the same situation as us, so you don't have to spend what we did. You get every template for just €52.32 on Etsy. That's the goal of this website. Below we also tell you our whole story, in case it helps.
Get the templates29 documents in the same order we uploaded them. They're in English, as UKVI requires, and wherever our details were you'll find fields like [YOUR NAME] or [SALARY].
The index that opens the bundle. It shows how we named, ordered and grouped every piece of evidence for the caseworker.
The sponsor cover letter (income, relationship, accommodation and plans) and the applicant's personal statement. Editable Word files.
Passports, SELT B1 certificate and the passport reconciliation statement that links a lost passport to the current one.
Category A (salaried employment): HR letter, contract, P60, 6 payslips and 6 matching bank statements.
For living with family: primary tenant consent, landlord consent and an inspection report showing no overcrowding.
The key part if you haven't lived together: event log, photo timeline, both partners' flights, daily chats and letters from family and friends.
Buy it on Etsy and download it instantly.
Swap each bracketed field for your details and adapt the story to yours. The structure is already done.
Follow the master index to name and upload each file in order.
We met in London in December 2022 and have lived in different countries for almost four years. This is the case we presented to UKVI.
Hi, I'm Sara. I'm from the north of Spain, but I live in Madrid. I met Lee while I was doing an English course in London, and afterwards I went back to Spain to finish my degree. Two years later I moved to Madrid to keep growing professionally, and that's where I applied for the partner visa from.
Hi, I'm Lee. I'm from the North of England, but I've been living in London for 10 years. Over these years I've been back and forth to Spain many times, even though I already knew Spain well. Now that the visa is approved, we're finally moving in together.
Sara had to finish her degree in Spain. Then we looked into a work visa for her, but after Brexit it's very hard to get sponsored as a recent graduate. In the application we explained it clearly: we were apart for practical reasons, and the relationship was stable and akin to marriage. We proved it with flights, photos, chats, an event log and letters from family and friends.

We paid for the priority service, which promises a decision within 30 working days. Ours came in 18. These were our real dates.
Dates from 2026. The gold line is the wait from biometrics to the decision.
*ECO: an email letting you know that someone at the Home Office (an Entry Clearance Officer) is reviewing your case.
Why we paid for priority, what it costs and how to book it →
These are the payments we made to the Home Office, VFS Global and the test centre. Not included: the €1,000+ we spent on solicitors.

Not every English exam is accepted for this visa: it has to be a SELT approved by UKVI, taken at an approved centre. I took Skills for English at level B1 in Madrid, for €165.
You have to prove you'll have adequate accommodation in the UK. Our case was trickier than most.
We didn't want to rent a place without knowing whether the visa would be approved. Rents in London are very expensive, and it would have meant even more money on top of what we'd already spent on the visa.
Lee was living in a house share that didn't allow another person in the same room.
We said we'd live at first with Lee's mum and stepdad, until we could save more money. For that we needed two documents:
A summary of the event log we submitted. Our focus was always to show that we were there for each other's important moments, often with our families and friends there too. The bundle includes the template so you can make yours.
If your old passport has a loss or theft note, answer "yes" on the form and give the number. Not declaring it can be treated as deception.
Payslips and statements can't get too old. We planned our submission date so they were still valid.
If someone has changed their surname, they must sign as on their passport, and the letter explains the change.
We compressed every PDF under the portal limit and named it with its index code.
The application form asks for every country you've visited in the last 10 years, apart from the US, Canada, EU countries and a few others. I'd travelled to lots of countries in south-eastern Europe, like Albania, Montenegro and North Macedonia, and wasn't sure of the dates because my passport didn't show them. Gather your bookings and tickets before you start the form.
Everything we learned during the process, one guide at a time.
How we explained the separation and proved the relationship.
Why we paid €605, where you pay it and the mistake we made.
SELT, A1 or B1, and why I chose Skills for English over IELTS.
The online form, the wait for an appointment and what happens on the day.
Nobody keeps your passport, and I travelled while waiting.
That's our case. We were approved without cohabiting because we explained why we were apart and proved a stable relationship of over two years. Every application is assessed individually, so adapt the text to your situation.
English, as UKVI requires.
The letters come as Word files (.docx) so you can edit them. The rest are example PDFs showing the structure and format of each piece of evidence.
No. We removed our personal information and replaced it with bracketed fields and instructions.
No. We're not solicitors. We're sharing the documents from an application that worked. The rules change, so always check GOV.UK and, if your case is complex, speak to a professional.
Send us your questions or doubts and we'll reply as soon as we can.
You get the templates, structure and order of an application approved without cohabitation, for just €52.32 instead of the €1,000+ we spent on solicitors.
